Vietnam Souvenirs Food: Rong Vang Minh Ngoc Green Bean Cake

I bought two flavors—original and durian.

As soon as you open the package, you’re greeted by a rich mung bean aroma. The cakes are delicate and crumble easily in your hands. Once in your mouth, they absorb your saliva, releasing a pure mung bean flavor that spreads throughout your mouth.

The sweetness is just right, making it hard to stop at just one bite. After finishing a small box, it’s tempting to reach for the second one. No wonder this mung bean cake comes so highly recommended!

Vietnam Souvenirs Food: Rong Vang Minh Ngoc Green Bean Cake(Durian Flavor)

The durian-flavored mung bean cake has a subtle durian aroma. It’s similar to the original mung bean cake in texture and taste.

The Golden Dragon brand mung bean cake is not easy to find in the market. We couldn’t locate it in Lotte Supermarket, local grocery stores, or even at Hui’an Night Market. It wasn’t until we got to the airport duty-free shop that we finally saw it. If you get the chance, definitely bring some home to try.

Vietnam Souvenirs Food: Matcha Green Bean Cake

We stumbled upon the rare matcha-flavored mung bean cake in Hui’an Ancient Town. After trying it, I found the taste quite enjoyable, so I decided to bring some back as souvenirs.

Each box of mung bean cake is individually packaged with a small plastic bag inside to keep it fresh. The cakes melt in your mouth instantly, releasing a subtle matcha aroma, though they are a bit on the sweet side.

Each package contains six small pieces, but the sweetness can become overwhelming if you eat too many at once.

Vietnam Souvenirs Food: Macadamia nuts

Macadamia nuts are packed with nutrients and can aid in weight loss, making them a popular choice during our group purchase on this trip.

The macadamia nuts here are shelled and incredibly fresh. They taste better than the mixed cashew nuts sold in Taiwan’s hypermarkets—crisper, sweeter, and with a slight creaminess that makes them even more enjoyable.

Vietnam Souvenirs Food: Chocolate (Mango Filling)

When I opened the package, I was greeted by a beautiful golden yellow wrapper—my favorite color. The chocolate is shaped like a traditional Vietnamese bamboo hat, which is quite cute.

The mango filling consists of very tiny pieces mixed into the chocolate, but the chocolate flavor is so dominant that the mango taste is barely noticeable.

Without knowing it beforehand, you’d hardly guess there was dried mango inside.

Vietnam Souvenirs Food: Dried Mango Chocolate

Each pack contains about 10 pieces, and the appearance is quite unique. The main component is dried mango, which is then coated in chocolate and air-dried. When you take a bite, you first notice the slightly chewy texture of the dried mango, but the dominant flavor is the bittersweet chocolate.

At first, the combination might seem a bit unusual, but after a few more pieces, it surprisingly becomes smoother and more enjoyable. It’s hard not to wonder what makes it so intriguing!

Vietnam Souvenirs Food: Dried Mango

Although this dried mango is thinly sliced, it has a satisfying chewiness when you bite into it.

You can tell it’s made from fresh mangoes because the flavor is remarkably similar to eating freshly cut mango. I recommend getting the combo pack: the sugar-free version includes 5 packs of dried fruits plus 1 pack of jelly, while the regular version comes with 10 packs of dried fruits. There’s a noticeable difference between the two, so choose based on your preference.

Vietnam Souvenirs Food: Dried Banana Fruit

With the first bite, you’ll notice the sweet taste of banana, and with the second, a light biscuit-like aroma spreads through your mouth, giving it a nice crispiness.

However, dried bananas can be a bit tough to bite for those with sensitive teeth or for the elderly. Unfortunately, if you eat a few slices in a row, they tend to stick to your teeth. Despite that, the overall taste is quite enjoyable.

Vietnam Souvenirs Food: An Cha Bong Cookies

These biscuits resemble Taiwan’s Want Want Senbei and come in two flavors: original and pork floss.

Since the pork flavor can’t be brought back to Taiwan, it’s best to enjoy it locally after purchasing. The original flavor, however, can be taken home, it a great snack for traveling.

Vietnam Souvenirs Food: Civet Coffee

Civet coffee has a much stronger taste compared to regular coffee. When you open the package, you’re immediately hit with a rich coffee aroma, accompanied by notes of chocolate.

However, brewing it requires some patience, as the coffee filters very slowly, taking about 10-20 minutes to fill a mug. This might be due to the large amount of coffee grounds and the high fat content, which leaves a slight oily residue in the cup after drinking.
