Xiaoliuqiu Breakfast: Hong Mama Buffet

The food display is divided into two main sections: one side has fried food, while the other side features egg pancakes, traditional rice balls, scallion pancakes, and other items.

Xiaoliuqiu Breakfast: Beverage & Checkout Area

The other side is the beverage and checkout area, and also where the soup dumplings are steamed. You can simply tell the waiter what you want to drink. I recommend the coffee milk; it’s not too sweet and remains enjoyable even after drinking it for two days straight.

In the sauce section, the garlic sauce is mild, so you won’t have a strong garlic taste in your mouth afterward.

What is Xiaoliuqiu Cake? It’s one of Hong Mama’s most popular dishes!

The outer skin is thin and crispy, while the main body is made of taro, infused with a peanut aroma. The texture is dense and chewy, making it a unique treat. I’ve never encountered this taste in other regions. It’s definitely worth trying. Highly recommend!

Cabbage Fried Pancakes

These pancakes are packed with cabbage, sweet potatoes, shredded ginger, carrots, and more. They have a sweet taste and leave a fragrant aroma in your mouth after eating.

Fried meatballs

Although the outer skin appears crispy, it’s not as delicious as expected. The texture is thick and a bit disappointing.

Egg Wrapped Rice Ball

The ingredients are similar to traditional rice balls, but it seems they use regular white rice instead of glutinous rice. Inside, you’ll find a filling of pork floss, pickled vegetables, and crispy fried dough sticks, all wrapped in a scallion omelet.

Brown Sugar Benz Bag

It resembles a Mercedes license plate and comes highly recommended by many people. It’s said that eating it while hot makes it burst with juicy sweetness. Unfortunately, it was cold by the time we tried it.

I thought it was just a regular egg pancake, but it turned out to be a traditional omelet. Each small piece has a chewy texture. Even though it had been sitting in the box for a while, I still found it quite delicious.

Soup Dumplings

The skin was wrinkled and nearly all the soup had evaporated, possibly because it was cold. The meat had a strong fishy taste, and I had to dip it in sauce to make it more palatable. This dish was disappointing and not enjoyable at all.

Small Sausage in Large Sausage

Mama Hong’s Breakfast Shop also offers “Small Sausage in Large Sausage.” It’s worth trying if you’re curious, but compared to the ones you find at night markets, this version is quite plain and lacks additional ingredients. The night market versions are generally more delicious.

Southern Taiwanese Zongzi

The stuffing includes sausage, potatoes, mushrooms, and lean meat. Personally, I’m not a big fan of it.

Sausage Bowl Cake

The main ingredients of sausage bowl cake are similar to those in Xiaoliuqiu Cake, but the preparation method is different. Sausage Bowl Cake has a solid texture and includes vegetables and sausage. I recommend giving it a try!
